A third-generation Kansas Citian, Andy grew up surrounded by the traditions of St. Peter’s, Rockhurst, and Mizzou, and he carries those neighborhood values everywhere he goes. Coming from a place where neighbors always show up for one another shaped his philosophy on life and business: people come first, always.
As the managing partner and face of Mike’s Wine & Spirits, Andy has helped grow a neighborhood liquor store into a true community engine. He treats alcohol as more than a product — it’s a connector. A bottle can spark a friendship, fuel a conversation, launch a fundraiser, or support a family in crisis. Under his leadership, Mike’s has become known as the place where good drinks consistently turn into good deeds.
At home, Andy is raising his daughter in the same neighborhoods that shaped three generations of the Doohan family. Alongside them is Ramen, the city’s most beloved shop dog — and possibly the only non-human liquor store proprietor in Kansas City, if not the world.
Even while running multiple stores and coordinating events all over KC, Andy brings a contagious energy to every space he enters. Warm, approachable, and community-driven, he’s the type of person who can turn strangers into lifelong friends. Whether hosting a tasting, supporting a school auction, coordinating a charity delivery, or showing off some questionable dance moves, Andy’s focus remains the same: bringing people together.
