Dakota Thompson

$25

Dakota Thompson is a senior at William Chrisman High School in Independence, Missouri, where he is known for his leadership, determination, and strong faith. A standout student-athlete, Dakota serves as a captain for both the football and basketball teams. He is also active in the A+ Program, Student Council, and the school play, and is a member of the Chess Club.

Beyond the classroom and athletics, Dakota is a dedicated participant in the C You in the Major Leagues Foundation’s C-10 Mentoring and Leadership Program, where he has spent the past two years developing his leadership skills, character, and commitment to service. This year he’s on the C-10 Student Leadership Council.

Originally from the St. Louis area, Dakota’s journey has been one of perseverance and faith. Raised in a single-parent household and facing significant challenges during his childhood, he learned early the importance of responsibility, hard work, and resilience. At just 15 years old, he stepped up to help support his family financially, showing remarkable maturity and selflessness.

After experiencing housing instability, Dakota was welcomed into the home of his summer basketball coach and his family, where he has continued to thrive as an honor student and leader among his peers. In addition to his school and athletic commitments, Dakota works for the Independence School District during the summer as a paint crew supervisor, further demonstrating his strong work ethic and drive to succeed.

Grounded in his faith, Dakota attends Graceway Church, where he continues to grow spiritually and serve his community. With the support of mentors and his steadfast belief in God’s plan for his life, Dakota remains focused on education, leadership, and service to others. He is committed to fulfilling the promise he made to himself and his younger brothers—to create a brighter future and make a lasting, positive impact on those around him.
